    Osprey is one of the largest, most popular and fastest-growing rapid electric vehicle charging networks in the UK. Their mission is to play a leading role in the electrification of transport, ensuring their chargers are thoughtfully placed, reliable and simple to use and accept multiple forms of payment to be truly open-access - and every one is powered by 100% renewable electricity.

    Osprey fully funds the installation of their chargers and all associated maintenance, partnering with landlords and deploying chargepoints based on the optimum solution for EV drivers in each location. In a UK first, Osprey started rolling-out over 150 high-powered charging hubs across the UK in 2021, bringing dynamic load-balancing to their network.

    By working with landlords to ensure that each site is expanded in line with demand and ensuring space is optimised at all times, Osprey ensures that the number of chargers available is always ahead of market demand.

    Doubling Network Growth

    In 2023, Osprey hit the accelerator on growth and installed 800 chargers in just nine months, outpacing other charging networks and continuing to deliver value for landlords and drivers of EVs.

    Key to this growth is Osprey's use of data and analytics and, alongside this investment in charging infrastructure, Rittman Analytics were engaged to help Osprey scale their data analytics platform and data team capabilities.

    Scaling Data Analytics Capabilities

    Rittman Analytics worked alongside Osprey Charging's team to deliver three objectives that supported their planned growth:

    • Upgrade and modernise their data platform to enable the continued scaling of their business
    • Introduce a modern, agile and best-of-breed analytics delivery workflow for centralizing reporting data sources into a cloud data warehouse
    • Help form and lead Osprey's data team and data function, ensuring they have the optimal set of capabilities and data team roles

    Over a period of nine months Rittman Analytics worked alongside Osprey's team to build a centralised, automated reconciliation and reporting process for their business operations team.

    Using technology from partners at Snowflake, dbt Labs, Preset, Cube and Fivetran and a robust, repeatable analytics delivery workflow, Rittman Analytics led the design and build of a scalable, modern data analytics platform that:

    • met their immediate reporting needs with solution that could scale as demand from users grew
    • created processes and a delivery approach embraced by their data team
    • provided a framework for future expansion of this analytics platform
